Dear Brothers and Sisters,
In preparation for the New Year, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for permitting me to serve you as your National JPIC Minister and to introduce a plan that will help us to build our awareness of JPIC and its relevance to us as Catholics and Franciscans.
Over the next three years the plan is to introduce a programme of gatherings to share our own JPIC experiences with each other, this will run alongside a programme of talks from outside experts with the objective of deepening our JPIC expertise still further.
By way of starting our conversation together you are invited to discuss how we as Secular Franciscans are serving the calling of JPIC in our personal and fraternal lives by making space for JPIC at your local monthly meetings and regional gatherings. In this way our work for the Kingdom will be our teacher, and we will be able to strengthen each other through our shared experience.
Just as JPIC is an item on the Agenda for National Chapter and National Council meetings I would like you to do the same at local and regional meetings. As an Agenda item my suggestion is that you try to answer these questions:
- What outreach projects are your members engaged in as individuals and as a group?
- Do you see any needs within your local communities that might benefit from Franciscan voices, hands and prayers?
- As you go forward with your JPIC missions what support, encouragement, prayers can you offer each other.
- How might you offer your experience to the Order, could you for instance speak about your experience of JPIC, might you write about it?
- Having gathered, discussed, decided, encouraged each other have you had the courage to fraternity experience with your Regional and National Councils so that we all can benefit?
The fruit of this plan will be to gather in regular National Online JPIC zoom meetings where willing members will be scheduled to give short ten-minute talks sharing their work, there will also be opportunity for discussion and prayer together.
